Description
Large photograph on cardboard representing Simon Aime DIOR and Catherine HENNESSY with their guest on April 23, 1903, their wedding day.

This photograph is part of a batch and comes from the family archives of Jacqueline DIOR (Sister of Christian DIOR). The lot was bought at an auction by Christophe DUBOIS RUBIO and later donated to the Vassiliev Foundation.

If the wedding between DIOR and HENNESSY family dates from 1903, the relationship between Maison DIOR and Maison HENNESSY will wait until 1971.
Christian DIOR created his fashion house in 1946, with the financial support of Marcel BOUSSAC. Following the success of the first collection "New Look", BOUSSAC creates the company "Dior Parfums". After the death of Christian DIOR in 1957, fashion and perfumery businesses began to decline. In order to bail out perfumery, an agreement was signed between the company Moët & Chandon and Boussac on May 16, 1968, for the acquisition of 50% of Dior Parfums. In 1971, the share of the MHD group (Moët-Chandon, Hennessy & Diageo) in Christian Dior Perfumes rose from 50 to 70%. MHD becomes the owner of all the capital thereafter.
