Description
Photograph of a noble woman represented in a photographer's studio in full-length standing in front of a high accent table with a vase of flowers. She is wearing a crinoline gown with a light colour underskirt and darker over skirt and bodice, adorned with fringes. The sleeves are in semi-transparent lace with dot motif. The wings on the shoulders and wrist decorations are very reminiscent of Valenciennes bobbin lace. Sleeves are probably made of machine lace canvas.
This photograph is typically a "carte de visite" format, format invented by André Adolphe Eugène DISDERI in 1854.
