Author:
Eugène DISDÉRI (French, 1819 – 1889)
Description
This photograph of the Empress Eugenie de Montijo is probably a photographic print of Disdéri's studio. It would therefore be a photograph not retained by the empress after the pose session or a reprint since one begins to market the imperial portraits in the form of a visit card.

Disdéri is the photographer of the representatives of the imperial power. He is the one who invented the carte de visite format.

We can see the Empress Eugenie turned back, looking ahead.

This print probably comes from the stock of Maurice Levert, sold in 1995 in Drouot Richelieu.
