Author:
Eugène DISDÉRI (French, 1819 – 1889)
Description
This photograph of Laeticia Bonaparte, daughter of Lucien Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon I, and Alexandrine de Bleschamp, is probably a photographic print of Disdéri's studio. It would therefore be a photograph not retained by Laeticia Bonaparte after the pose session or a reprint since one begins to market the imperial portraits in the form of a visit card. Disdéri is the photographer of the representatives of the imperial power. He is the one who invented the carte de visite format. Here we can see Laeticia Bonaparte looking at the photographer's lens, posing with a chair.
This print probably comes from the stock of Maurice Levert, sold in 1995 in Drouot Richelieu.
