Description
This postcard depicts two women walking.

Starting from the left, the first one is wearing a brown jacket and skirt ensemble with a long, dark blue scarf, a tall and narrow green hat adorned with a pink feather, a green handbag and white gloves; the second is wearing a similar blue jacket and skirt ensemble, a long black scarf with white polka dots, a purple hat lined in white fur adorned with a long black feather, a light pink handbag and white gloves.

They are both struggling to walk since they are wearing "hobble skirts", introduced in the 1910s by Paul POIRET. These skirts were so tight around the calves that they prevented women from having full use of their legs and feet. The title, which roughly translates to "The Hampered", makes fun of that unpractical fashion.
