Description
Portrait painting in profile of a woman in "Sultana style" leaning on a balustrade and holding a fan.
From 1911 to 1914, fashion had been already influenced by the Russian ballets of Diaghilev and had been impressed after the resounding success of "Persian party", given in 1911 by Paul Poiret. The Sultana style was worn addictively by the fashionistas without the complete disappearance of the straight line.
