A purse bag made of ivory-colored silk moiré on a semicircular engraved gilded pinchbeck frame and push-button clasp, beaded with a mourning chest of drawers, a dog howling at it, and a weeping willow, with flowers on the other side, oak leaves and acorns along the outline.Such handbag mourning designs became widespread after the end of Napoleonic Wars in memory of the officers and soldiers who died there.
