Description
Fashion photograph representing the model Nina von HOYER in a tubular day dress, with a rectangular neckline and featuring a decorative bow at the cuffs and waistband, a creation of the fashion house YTEB. The young woman has her hair done in the typical Marcel wave haircut, that is to say slightly wavy and with a parting on the side.
Nina von HOYER was a Russian émigré model of the House of Yteb. She was descended on her father's side from Baltic nobility; on her mother's side she was a stepsister of Natalia Petrovna BOLOGOVSKAYA, née IVANOVA, a professional Parisian dressmaker. Arriving in Paris after the revolution, Nina von HOYER earned a living by painting silk scarves; after she decided to try her luck in a Russian fashion house and started by going to Prince Felix YOUSSOUPOFF at Irfé. Since all their positions were filled, the prince advised her to apply at Yteb, which had an open vacancy. She modeled for Yteb from 1926 to 1931, and later became an assistant in-house saleswoman. She quitted the house around 1932. Further she married the Englishman Mr. MACCARTNEY and moved with him to England.
