Description
Painting portrait of a woman represented in a brown colour day dress with large and long gigot sleeves and tight waistline, accentuated with a matching colour belt and an oval gilded metal buckle. She is wearing a high white ruff collar and a fashionable semi transparent lace headdress with long ribbons and embellished with multicolour flowers. Her forehead is framed with curls from both sides, and she is wearing a pair of shiny earrings.

The lady is known as the stepmother of the painter, Rosalie Françoise Joseph FAUVEZ, dressmaker, born in 1774 and died in 1829, the second wife of Philippe Toussaint AUVRAY, merchant haberdasher.
