Description
Painted portrait in its original frame molded at the ends representing a young bourgeois couple seated on a Biedermeier style sofa made in pear tree color wood and upholstered in green velvet. The man is dressed in a 3-piece suit, pants and jacket in black color with a waistcoat made in a light fabric color and embellished with burgundy-colored floral patterns. He wears a gold patterned breastplates tie concealing a white shirt and adorned with a tie pin. The woman is dressed in a evening gown consisting of a flared skirt on which is a coat of dress and a pointed bodice leaved the shoulders bare and ending with pagoda sleeves. The dress is embellished with a decorative braid, all in the same purple color. She wears a pair of oval pearl earrings and a chain necklace ending in by a watch. A blue color shawl decorated with flower pattern is placed behind her on the sofa.. She holds in her hand a letter posted from Saint Petersburg and dated on November 4, 1844.
