Bust portrait of a woman leaning on a ledge, her right hand supporting her face. She wears a day dress, probably in velvet, with a lace wrists and collar.The lady is known as Florence Georgina LAFFITTE (1830-1901), daughter of Count Charles LAFFITTE and grand-niece of banker Jacques LAFFITTE. In October 1859 she married the Marquis Gaston Alexandre Auguste de GALLIFET (1831 - 1909) a French soldier from the family of GALLIFET, last prince of MARTIGUES.
