Full length photograph of a woman, standing leaning on the back of a chair, wearing an evening dress entirely covered by lace.

The lady is known as Pauline Clémentine Marie WALBURGE, countess Sándor von Szlavnicza (1836-1921) then princess of METTERNICH-WINNEBURG zu BEILSTEIN after her marriage in 1856 to the Austrian diplomat, Richard Klemens, prince of METTERNICH-WINNEBURG (1829-1895) . She is famous for her Parisian salon during the French Second Empire but also for having been one of the first clients of the fashion design Charles Frederick WORTH.
