Description
Modern surrealist interpretation of one’s unconscious demons created by Georges VITALY (French, Simferopol 1917 - 2007 Paris), whose real name is Vitali GARCOUCHENKO, comedian, stage director and director of French theater to his friend René DUPUY (French, New York 1920 - 2009 Paris) also comedian, stage director and director of French theater.

The painting depicts a surreal scene of a witch on a broom chained to a man with a cane. The witch wears a white body-suit, which outlines her naked form, while a white cape billows in the wind behind her. Her black hair resembles a plume of smoke emerging from her head in an exaggerated bouffant. She straddles a broom and raises a flog in her right hand while urging forward. A man dangles from a chain attached to the back of her broom. Dressed in a red sweater, black pants, and loafers, he’s thrown backward. His green face is contorted in a mixture of surprise and angst as he’s lifted off the ground. The background features three houses, clouded blue sky, and beige ground.
