Description
Stage sandal of golden colour leather, and was worn by Serge LIFAR during his performance of Faun in "Afternoon of a Faun" ballet in 1927 at Opera de Paris. The shoe is signed on the sole by Serge LIFAR himself.

"The Afternoon of a Faun" is a one-act ballet by Vaslav NIJINSKY, to the music of Claude DEBUSSY's "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun" (himself inspired by the poem by Stéphane MALLARME "The Afternoon of a Faun"), sets and costumes by Léon BAKST.

Serge LIFAR was considered the successor to NIJINSKY in the Ballets Russes, and became the last Faun performer for the Ballets Russes de Diaghilev campaign, and danced a solo version of the ballet.
