Description
Set of six small round gilt pinchbeck buttons, set with Roman lava stone roundels, presented in original silk and velvet lined blue round case. Each button comes with a small cufflink.
The first time lava stones were used in jewelry was in the 18th century after the buried cities of Pompeii, were discovered in Italy and people wanted the stones as souvenirs. These common stones were made into brooches, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings and sold to tourists.
