Description
Photograph of a husband and his wife represented in a photographer's studio in full-length. The woman is wearing a simple day dress with lace collar, probably in Valenciennes bobbin lace, and short cuffs. Her waist is accentuated by a tight belt with a rectangular belt buckle, and a chatelaine chain attached to her neck. The man is wearing an elegant suit with a bow tie, and is leaning on a table.

This photograph is typically a "carte de visite" format, format invented by André Adolphe Eugène DISDERI in 1854.
