Description
Portrait of an elderly lady, possibly a noble woman, who wants to demonstrate her well-being. She is wearing a white shawl with paisley motifves - in the Empire era, the shawl was considered a sign of wealth, the shawl accentuates the chest, repeating the silhouette of the high-waisted dress. She has a gold cross pendant on her chest. She has a white bonnet hat on her head, such bonnets were popular at the very beginning of the XIX c., the bonnet is decorated with lace, probably the finest handmade French lace or Brussels tulle appliques.
