Description
Lanvin Paris pin brooch representing the fashion house stylized logo, mother and daughter, in gold metal.

The famous logo of fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin was first and foremost an image full of emotion: the love story between a mother and her daughter. When Jeanne gave birth to a little Marguerite in 1897, she gave birth not only to her only daughter, but also to a muse, her greatest source of inspiration. One evening in 1907, as they went to a costume ball, dressed in almost identical dresses and headdresses, an unknown photographer captured the scene: hands clasped, eyes entwined.

At that time, Jeanne Lanvin was a milliner located at 22 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, her workshop-boutique in which her daughter played models under the eyes of the customers. It is for the beautiful eyes of her child that Jeanne begins to dress dolls, before turning quickly to models for Marguerite. For the 30th birthday of Marguerite, her mother creates a fragrance "Arpège" and uses for the first time this emblem directly inspired by the famous photograph taken in 1907 and stylized with a pencil stroke, in 1923, by the illustrator Paul IRIBE. While the creators signed their brand name, Jeanne was one of the first to use a logo. She has always said that, without Marguerite's arrival, she would have remained a simple milliner.
