Description
Tiara style comb in blond tortoiseshell imitating celluloid, with diadem part in brass with embossed decoration of three horseshoes. Horseshoes have long been considered lucky. They were originally made of iron, a material that was believed to ward off evil spirits, and traditionally were held in place with seven nails, seven being the luckiest number.
Such type of accessory could be worn bby a fashionable lady during horse racing event. Horse races have been held in Longchamp, in the Bois de Boulogne near Paris, since 1857. In the 1910s and 1920s, when the first modern fashion shows were organized, the dressmakers regularly sent models wearing their latest creations to show themselves around horse racing.
