Description
Tiara hair comb in tortoiseshell, surmounted with a hinged metal tiara frame with wave ornament, adorned with seven round faceted garnets of Perpignan.

It is likely that the use of garnet flourished in Perpignan as early as the middle of the eighteenth century, thanks to the discovery of garnets in the Pyrenees. Its deeply red color is due to the presence of iron. This semi precious stone has, among other qualities, a very good hardness index. Its light reflection is, for its part, optimized thanks to the specific Catalan assembly which gives it remarkable brilliance.

In French Catalan families, the tradition wants each mother to transmit a garnet from Perpignan to her daughter. In the language of stones, garnet symbolizes loyalty and frankness, qualities which Catalans claim loud and clear.
