Description
Fashion plate taken from the first publication in 1920 of 'Très Parisien'. It depicts a woman in an ensemble by Robert Piguet.

Piguet presented his first collection in 1920. There were only thirty designs, some in the oriental style that was popular at the time, but mostly in quite simple and classical styles, with emphasis on the cut. Piguet wished the refined borgeouisie to wear this first collection, but many of the fashionable and trend setting ladies of the time did not expect to pay for a dress, viewing their wearing of it as free advertising for the fashion house in question. This, along with costs of setting up, including workshop and paying for the models, meant that Piguet quickly ran out of funding and had to shut down. He went to work for Paul Poiret and then Redfern, before opening a fashion house under his name in 1933.

The ensemble is made up of a black and green tunic dress, with a silver gauze overlay at the hip and collar. The figure is carrying a green feather in her hand.
