Presumed portrait of Blanche FEILLET
Author:Pierre Jacques FEILLET (French, 1794 - 1855)
Painting portrait of a young woman in a dark dress with a white lace pelerine on the shoulders attached with a cameo brooch. Her arms are hiden by a blue shawl. The lady is probably Blanche FEILLET-HENNEBUTTE (French, 1815 - 1886), French painter and lithographer, the daughter of the painter Pierre Jacques FEILLET, the author of this artwork.
The lace is presumably a Brussels bobbin lace made of appliqués on the handmade background tulle. The fragments of such lace, the background and the assembly are usually made by different craftswomen.
