Description
A modern postcard of the famous Russian actress Olga Baclanova, depicts she in 1920s. Photo was taken in USA 
Olga Baklanova began to study acting in 1912 when she was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow Art Theater under the direction of K.S. Stanislavsky. Olga Baklanova began her film career in Crimea with filming in silent short films. She took part in many films: The Symphony of Love and Death (1914), The Wanderer of the Afterlife (1915), The Vampire Woman (1915), The Loop of Death (1915). Olga also often played in the theater and was a successful actress until her career was compromised by the revolution. In order to continue the theatrical career Baklanova in 1918 takes part in the propaganda film "Bread". She is still success. In 1925, Olga, as a member of the troupe, went on a foreign tour and did not return.  In 1927, Olga Baklanova was offered to participate in the film "Dove". The German actor Conrad Feidt, who was famous at that time, drew attention to her. He invited the actress to participate in the film "The Man Who Laughs" (1928). Baklanova was a successful actress. She had contracts with film studios such as Paramount Pictures and Fox Films. After the appearance of sound cinema, Olga was no longer starred because of the accent, she completed her filming in the movie and again began to play in the theater. In old age, she also took part in several films. Olga Baklanova died in Switzerland, in Vevey, on September 6, 1974.
