This study of a woman's portrait shows all the preparatory steps for a larger-scale portrait. The drawing is framed within the page, and the grid has been left visible to be reproduced on a bigger canvas. The woman in sitting, behind her can be seen an arch leading on several others and a stair behind her left shoulder. She is wearing a V-neck dress with short wide sleeves. Her hair seems to be either cut short and curled or tied at the back.Materials
