Description
Watercolor "Carnaval" with four characters. All four of them are from the ballet Carnaval originally a piece for piano composed by Robert Schumann in 1834-35 and choregraphed by Michel Fokine first in 1910, in particular for the Serge de Diaghilev's company Ballets Russes. An inscription at the right bottom of the watercolour indicates four names of dancers who have interpreted these characters of Carnaval throughout the years: Paul Grinwiss, Olga Morosova, Nina Verchinina, Dokoudovsky.
We can recongnize the costume designed by Leon Bakst for the ballet in 1910.
