Description
Wooden carved and painted by hand accessory box depicting on the top and inside the lid two pyrographed illustrations by Ivan BILIBIN (1876-1941) from the Russian fairytale "Maria MOREVNA" (The Death of Koschei the Deathless).
On the lid, around the illustration, the bird of fire, another figure from the Slavic folk fairy tales, is represented at the two upper angles.

This type of box was created by Russian immigrants in Paris after the wave of immigration that followed the Russian revolution of 1917.
