Elsa Schiaparelli style "shocking pink" and black striped silk taffeta pelerine with and Pierrot collar and ruffle layers.

Large scale prints in women's dresses are believed to have become popular under the influence of Elsa Schiaparelli. Companion-Butterick No. 7791 in April, 1938 named this stripes "bayadere print". The Design Fabric Glossary defines “bayadere” as “brightly coloured stripes in a horizontal format characterized by strong effects of colour. A Bayadere is an Indian dancing girl, trained from birth.”
