Description
Pair of richly decorated shoe buckles presented in their fitted case. Each buckle is constructed on a metal base with a squared central opening, intended to receive the fastening strap of the shoe. The rectangular frame is decorated with several ornamental registers arranged around the inner aperture.
Along the outer edge runs a line of square rhinestones, forming a bright continuous border. Inside this, a second row is composed of small bronze-toned beads set along a metal band. The sides of each buckle widen at the centre, where the decoration becomes more elaborate. Rounded rhinestones are arranged in curved rows, with larger stones placed in the central section. The middle of each enlarged side is emphasized by a prominent rhinestone, surrounded by smaller stones in a double circular arrangement. Around these jeweled sections appear engraved or applied bronze leaf motifs.
