Description
Sketching album of Tatiana KLEPININA, comprising a corpus of floral studies and ornamental motifs. The album was originally bound in a beige paper cover, reinforced along the spine with a green leatherette strip, now partially detached. The fore-edge is fitted with three large metal fasteners intended to secure the leaves. The interior consists of varied paper types, including beige-toned grid paper and plain sheets, all perforated along the margin to allow for easy detachment, several initial pages are missing. Certain pages bear stamped numerical inscriptions in the upper corner, indicating pagination.

These drawings inside the album constitute preparatory studies for textile designs, reflecting Klepinina’s professional practice as a fabric designer. The contents are predominantly composed of botanical studies, rendered in graphite and occasionally enhanced with colour. Towards the latter part of the album, ornamental and decorative pattern sketches appear with increasing frequency.
