Description
Pair of ivory silk dancing slippers of flat form with a slightly squared pointed toe. The upper is constructed entirely in ivory silk, the top edge is finished with a narrow self-fabric binding. The slipper is secured to the foot by means of a long silk ribbon drawstring threaded through the topline and crossed around the ankle. The sole is of thin natural brown leather, consistent with the flexible construction required for dancing use. The interior is lined with white leather.
The pair is accompanied by a matching green shoe box, characteristic of the Romantic era in which the shoes were produced. The lid of the box is lined with brown stripes on the edges.
