Description
Black top hat made of beaver fur. The hat features a rigid, non-collapsible body, a slightly flared crown, and a broad brim. The last inch of the cylindric part made of grosgrain ribbon with a side bow.The interior retains its original striped silk lining with a gilt maker’s stamp and a brown leather sweatband.
Original vintage condition with visible wear consistent with age, including minor surface abrasions and natural aging to the leather sweatband.
Beaver felt hats of this period were valued for their durability, water resistance, and refined matte finish. Such top hats were worn for formal occasions, civic events, and evening dress, symbolizing social status and elegance in European society.
