Description
A pastel portrait depicting a dark-haired woman of good standing, seated facing forward on a chair, her hands resting on the armrests. Her calm and serene expression, gentle smile and direct gaze lend the composition an atmosphere of quiet dignity. She wears a pale pink dress with voluminous short transparent sleeves of circular form, adorned with black decorative details, attached to a fitted corset whose bodice is veiled with a light fabric. A fur boa, in a deeper shade of pink, is draped over her right shoulder. Her hair is styled in a high chignon, characteristic of late 19th-century fashion. This type of dress bears strong similarities to the creations of the great Parisian haute couture houses of the period, such as the Maison Jacques Doucet or the Maison Charles Frederick Worth, to which it could be attributed.
