Pastel on paper portrait of a young woman know as Augustine DESENCLOS (1795-1860) wearing a blue dress with a lace collar and coral necklace. She wears coral earrings and a gold and coral comb in her hair.Augustine DESENCLOS was born on May 16, 1795. She was the daughter of Claude Georges DESENCLOS (1752-1794) and Thérèse Véronique GODEFROY (1758-1830), a gardening couple. She died in Montreuil-sur-Mer on June 6, 1860, at the age of 65, where she lived her entire life and worked as a seamstress.
