Description
Watercolor and chenille embroidery on silk canvas featuring a pilgrim scene on a winding path in the rough terrain of Southern France. Center of the embroidery depicts a man holding a walking stick, wearing a travel cape, straw hat, and breeches, pointing in the direction of the church and grotto on the left of the embroidery. The grotto features a statue placed in a large boulder or outcropping, with a group of pilgrims in front. In the distance at the end of the path is stairs to a modest church with a single steeple and belfry, surounded by palm trees. A figure stands in the entry. The sky is painted blue with clouds in water color.
