Description
Anglo Indian rectangular box with white ivory cut-outs applied to horn panels on a sandalwood base and features engraved image of a stylized Hindu figure on the lid.Lock and hinges are made of brass, bottom of the box features red velvet with carved animal feet.

Made in the city of Vizagapatam (now Visakhapatnam), South India. In the mid-19th century, especially after 1858, when India came under direct British Crown rule (after the British East India Company), the production of decorative objects for the Western market rapidly increased.
