Description
Italian Carabinieri traditional uniform made of heavy black wool cloth with red wool details, consists of tailcoat and trousers. Double-breasted tailcoat with two rows of nine tin buttons at front (one missing) has detachable epaulettes and aiguillette of golden gimp cord, the gimp embroidery with tin stars on the stand-up collar, two buttons at the rear waist, three buttons on the top of each tail and gimp embroidered emblems on the tail bottoms; with piping of the foreparts and sleeve turn-ups and rear tails lining made of red wool cloth. Black woolen trousers with braid stripes by the outside seams have welt pockets by the sides.
This post-war model is still used by the Italian Carabinieri, but after the 1960s the dark blue color of the uniform was changed to black.
