Description
Sleaveless stage dress in blue velvet adormend by lamé arabesque swirling framed by gold embroidery galon. The neckline is embellished with a gold bobble trim, and attached at the shoulder on either side are two gold and white shoulder chains. The interior is lined in blue cotton with a white cotton bustier, with otero written in smudged ink on the interior of the left breast. Metal hook and eye back closure.
The dress belonged to Carolina OTERO best know as "La Belle Otero", a renowned Spanish-French courtesan, actress, and dancer of the Belle Epoque era known for her lavish style, romantic entanglements, and contributions to Parisien nightlife.
