Large oval brooch made of ceramic, enameled in brick colour, having an embossed image of a pharaoh's head with stylized wings on the sides. The brooch has no mounting.In the early 20th century Egypt was of great interest in the West starting with the Ballets Russes "Cleopatre" ballet of 1909, and continued with the discovery of Tutankhamun tomb in 1922. This brought about the Egyptian Revival period where design in jewellery, fashion and furniture was inspired by Egypt.
