Men's waistcoat with linen lining and covered in lustrous ivory silk satin decorated with intricate embroidery by the hem, pockets and borders. It is short on the waist, has a plunging V-neckline and a V-shaped cutout at back. The embroidery is composed of theads of different materials and thickness, creating rich textural effects, enhanced by some added steel sequins. While the border is decorated with vegetal motifs, and on the front part, with a figurative composition with two small huts under a tree.The waistcoat was altered in the 19th century, probably around 1850s-1860s, during the Second French Empire period.
