Description
Headband, possibly used for Russian ballets, made up from three horizontal wires, some additional vertical wires securing them, and the lining consisting of felt sawn to the metal with threads. On the two sides of the head, with two cameos with antique profiles (the cameo of the front missing). The strip of the headdress is decorated alternating between round, blue and diamond-shaped glass rhinestones. From both cameos, 3 pendants are hanging, a total of six, each ending in further, smaller cameos.
Former personal collection of the dancer and choreographer Serge LIFAR. The presence of the pendants and cameo, evoking a Byzantine inspiration, makes is possible that it was used by a dancer as costume for a ballet with historical theme.
