Description
Book was published by Paul POIRET as an act of rebellion following a disagreement with the president of the gastronomic club of Paris. POIRET was known not only as a visionary fashion designer, but as a society figure in Paris. He was a major fan of good food and fine wine, fond of throwing the most spectacular dinner parties and balls that scandalized Paris society. Following his falling-out with the Gastronomy Club he founded a rival organization 'Le Club des Purs Cent'. The extraordinary recipes chosen by Poiret are true to his character as someone who loved to provoke and shock.

From Dora de Knyff nee Schmidt (1886-1983) library. She was wife of The Knight René de Knyff, (1865-1955) a Franco - Belgian racing driver.
