Description
Waistcoat in beige silk satin, with a plunging neckline and basques that come to the top of the thighs. It has dummy pockets, whose flap is scalloped, at the hips, eight brass buttons on the left and their buttonhole on the right, plus four dummy buttonholes at the top. It is adorned with a floral silk drum, garlands and bows in silk thread, silver, sequins and rhinestones. Its back is beige silk satin. It is adjustable using two linen ribbons and a martingale. It is lined with beige silk twill. The front and lining of the waistcoat date from the 1780s, but the neckline, buttons and back were probably modified in the 1890s, to disguise, stage costume or for hunting.
