Description
Pair of braces consisting of two white elastic ribbons on the front, creating a V in the back with a central elastic band, reinforced with a black leather patch on the top. Each strap has a repetitive vertical motif of black and white comics showing typical 1950s American caracters - Marilyn MONROE, a musician playing sax, a couple dancing, sparkles, champagne and cocktails. They are adjustable with silver metal mecanisms on the front, and secured with clip closures on the bottom with engraved bubble pattern on the back of each clip.
Donation from the ERDOTEX group, European leader in the revaluation of used textiles, as a part of a partnership in the selection by Alexandre Vassiliev Foundation of the most emblematic pieces, in order to illustrate the history of fashion and to look at these pieces from the angle of Art work.
This pair of braces, created by a British company, is a good example of a so called "Americanization" of the European society since the WWII, and an important influence of American culture and business on other countries outside the United States of America, including their media, cuisine, business practices, popular culture, technology or political techniques.
