Description
Photograph of a woman getting a fake mole tattooed on her cheek. The model’s head is tilted upwards and she is making eye contact with the camera with a straight face. She is wearing a pale-colored scoop-neck top. A man’s hand is coming in from outside of the frame with the tattoo gun. The photograph is manually retouched with gouache on top of some parts of the photograph with white, black, and light gray gouache. Painting was used to deepen part of the photo as the model’s dark hair or create texture. In the top right-hand corner are two dashes of marker. Four straight lines in pencil going from edge to edge to make a frame around the subject's face.
Fake moles were a beauty fad in the 1920s popularized by flappers and silent film stars. They were often stickers made from velvet or leather.
