Description
Paper photograph depicting a preparation for St Catherine's day. On the photograph we can see a group of catherinets presenting their creations at a large milliner. From left to right on the 1st plan: "Newspaper vendor", "Ballon rouge", "Sister Anne", in the background: "Robinson Crusoe", "Poetry" and "Radar".
"Coiffe Catherinette" , was worn by unmarried women, 25 or older, on St Catherine's day. On the day of the Feast of St Catherine, unmarried women would celebrate by wearing green and yellow decorated hats. On that day, they would pray and people would wish for them to find a husband.
