Description
Paper photograph of a Parisian model of Maison Paquin, destined for a German and British magazines, with a printed on tracing paper explanatory text in German, French and English. The photograph shows a young woman dressed in a gown for evening Bazar, with the full skirt of soft clinging white surah laid in shallow folds at front and side, opening out over the hips, and massing in deeper pleats at the back. An exquisite embroidery of pearls and silver sequins, over tiny bands of white satin and chiffon runs in a broad flounce around the skirt. Every second one of the satin bands is held in the center by a diamond button. The bodice is made entirely of this embroidery, the yoke and broad lace cap, and deep cuff of the so called "Paquin sleeve" show the embroidery of the lace. The loose hanging centre sleeve is of white chiffon, rich dangling ornaments of pearl and sequins hang over it from the shoulder cap. The embroidery of the bodice runs over into the broad Medici girdle belt, which is closed in front by a large diamond clasp in heart shape. The lady is wearing multiple pearl and diamond bracelets and rings, and an imposing multi strand pearl choker necklace, closing with an openwork diamond buckle with Art Nouveau ornaments.
