The photograph shows a young woman dressed in an interior reception gown of grey veiling, with the skirt divided in front by a row of lace inserting, and composed of clusters of tiny tucks, widening out towards the bottom. The flounce, which finishes the skirt has up and down rows of the lace inserting alternating with straight strips of the veiling. The loose bodice is entirely made of inserting and clusters of tucks, the upper part being covered by a lace Berthe fichu with edging of grey chiffon ruffles. The upper sleeves repeat the tucks and inserting of the bodice, the loose elbow puff is of the chiffon. A belt of the same material holds in the bodice at the waist, and a jabot knot of black velvet ribbon loops of varying lengths at the throat embellishes the high collar. A large metal jewel chatelaine is attached to the belt containing keys and medallions.
