Description
Paper photograph of a Parisian model of Maison Jeulin, destined for a German magazine, with a printed on tracing paper explanatory text in German. The photograph shows a young woman dressed in a dove-grey gown, consisting of a skirt fitted with a bodice with narrowly quilted gussets. Around the skirt are two wavy grey silk satin biases - five in total - which are repeated on the sleeves. The bolero with the stand-up collar is also made of delicate bias stitched onto the cloth. Two large opal buttons fasten it. Opalescent taffeta silk, forming a blouse, projects above and below the bolero, from which the heavy chain of pearls and elongated cut opals stands out. It is tied together by a self-tied knot. At its end hangs a little gold chainmail purse which was only allowed to contain a tiny lace handkerchief. Hiding money in it would be "Mauvais genre." The accompanying fantasy hat made of velvet and an folded felt sheet is embellished with openwork metal and opal buckle.
