Cabinet format photograph depicting a woman, a famous French actress, Gabrielle-Charlotte REJU, known as Réjane (1856 - 1920). She is represented sitting in a carved wooden chain, in a simple gown consisting of a bodice and a straight silk skirt. The top is made of a striped fabric, with vertical stripes on the bodice, and horizontal stripes on long sleeves, ending with a short pleated cuff. A lace shirt with a high collar is visible under the V-neckline of the bodice, adorned with a short pearl necklace, and a longer thin metal chain necklace with some individual pearls. A pair of small matching pearl earrings is visible.Materials
