Description
Elongated cabinet format photograph, also called "Boudoir format", depicting a young woman standing in a photographer's studio, leaning on a carved wooden chair with Medieval style tapestries. The lady is wearing an evening reception gown, most likely created by the House of Worth, consisting of a silk long sleeved bodice and a tight skirt, with a long train and a small bustle on the back. Both are richly decorated with glass beads, beaded fringes, layers of pleated ribbons, and a wide horizontal line on the knee level of different fabric, with leaf pattern. The high ruffled collar is made of semi transparent tulle and also embellished with beads. The woman is wearing a pair of leather gloves, and holding a closed fan with a silk tassel on the handle.
